An Empirical Diagnosis of the School-to-Work Process for Rural and Agricultural Development in China

Rural areas in China struggle with a scarcity of young farmers and the rapid aging farming labor. Attracting retaining university graduates rural is key to achieving goals The Revitalization Strategy government, which ultimately seeks guarantee sustainable agriculture food security China. This study examines whether school-to-work process beneficially aligned these goals. Survey data were collected from June 2016, logistic models generated identify probabilities of, explore influences on, school-to-rural outcomes. findings reveal that most who relocate are more likely directed there urban areas. Graduates backgrounds become successors than backgrounds. phenomenon children taking up occupation parent observed among those agricultural degrees backgrounds, will facilitate improve production. In order achieve mix family farms, large-scale farmlands, educated agriculture, following considerations for policy proposed: provide adequate incentives, remove obstacles, streamline school-to-farming.
